James Aruca-Uiber is known as the founder of the school district and also as the first superintendent in the history of ZPCD. James Aruca-Uiber is known as the founder of the school district and also as the first superintendent in the history of ZPCD. During the early 1900s, Aruca worked as a math teacher in ZPCD until he was appointed as the superintendent in 1975. In 2020, Aruca offered the position of Assistant Associate Superintendent to Chris Lewis, who gladly accepted the offer. Aruca eventually left the school district in 2022, and Lewis took over his position as superintendent, becoming the second person to hold this position in ZPCD history.
1975 - James Aruca-Uiber, 1st Superintendent
Our first Superintendent, James Aruca-Uiber, was appointed in 1975. Prior to this, Aruca had been a Math Teacher for ZPCD in the early 1900s for a period of 18 years. He served as Superintendent for an impressive 46 years and also held the position of Director of Student Services for 33 years. James Aruca-Uiber was a valued member of the ZPCD team and his contributions were greatly appreciated.
2021 - Chris Garcia, 2nd and Current Superintendent
Chris Lewis was appointed as the new Superintendent in 2021 after being recommended by Aruca for the position. Chris Garcia, on the other hand, has been a history teacher for 17 years and also served as the Director of Tech & Grounds for 9 years.
2022 - D65 Joined ZION-PARK 3
We welcomed D65 to our School District, along with a new Superintendent who replaced the previous one. Kevin Foster, the AA Superintendent, joined ZPCD and partnered with Chris Garcia, the Superintendent of ZPD3. The BOE approved their collaboration, and this partnership will go down in D65 & ZPCD history.
